Extremely Rare 250 year old Scottish Caledonian Pine ballpoint pen in Celtic style with rose and copper fittings

After millennia of timber cutting, Scottish forests now exist only as scattered pockets which are now rightly protected. These include Scots Pine trees which are magnificent ancient specimens several hundreds of years old. As a result of geographical isolation it has now evolved into a distinct local subspecies, Pinus sylvestris var. scotia and is known as the Caledonian Pine.

The wood of these ancients is beautiful. Very slowly grown with close growth rings, the colour is a lovely yellow-orange with fine dark orange-brown growth rings. The smell is something amazing, an almost overpowering heady pine resin scent that fills the air in the workshop.

As mentioned above, Caledonian Pines are now protected. This pen is made from wood said to have been taken from a huge specimen that was around 250 years old at Glemoriston in the Scottish Highlands not far from Loch Ness. It had to be officially removed under licence as it was presenting a danger to an adjacent road.

It is of great scarcity because of its history and it’s protection, and I only had 7 pieces of wood with no more available so this pen will come with a numbered certificate. However, STOP PRESS, I’m really excited as, after a lot of hunting and negotiation, I’ve got another small sheet of this amazing wood from the same tree.

As a result I’ve been able to reduce the price for the new small batch.

It’s in art deco / Celtic style and finished in antique rose copper, and handcrafted into a unique one-off pen - no two pens are the same. It takes a Parker type refill and comes with a free velvet pouch of your choice.

Buy now as this will be unlikely to be repeated quickly! I’m now definitely on my last stock.
